The Wheeler & Wilson manufacturing company opened in Bridgeport, Conn. 1856. The company became the world’s largest sewing machine manufacturing company in the world, till Singer bought them out in 1904, continuing to make the (W9) for several years under their name, finally dissolving the company a few years later.
